MASON CITY – The NIACC volleyball team topped Southeastern 3-1 in an ICCAC match Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.

The Lady Trojans won 25-18, 24-26, 25-17, 25-23.

“It was nice to play at home again while getting most of our players in the lineup tonight,” NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. “We did a nice job of minimizing our errors throughout the match and although we would like a better team hitting efficiency, we put up a lot of big swings and big blocks.”

Sophomore Kaylee Whittington led the Lady Trojans with 17 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Meagan Miller, who recently returned to the lineup after missing significant time with a leg injury, recorded 11 kills and nine digs.

Sophomore Jackie Bleifus recorded 34 assists and 11 digs, sophomore Hailey Winter had 14 assists and seven digs, and sophomore Aubury Coleman had five kills and five blocks.

Also for NIACC, sophomore Liv Block had 25 digs, freshman Lauren Ries had six kills and nine digs, freshman Keely Heller had three kills and two blocks, sophomore Hannah Carr had five digs, freshman Brooke Greenwood had six blocks and two kills and freshman Becca Konz had six kills and four blocks.

NIACC (17-9 overrall, 3-4 in the ICCAC) returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Central tournament in Fort Dodge.
