Man allegedly threatens to kill police and emergency responders who attempted to help him

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was taken to jail after a medical call went wrong.

Mason City police tell NIT that on Thursday evening, October 6 at about 6:45 PM, officers and paramedics were dispatched to 201 North Federal to respond to a report of a man that looked out of sorts who was sitting or lying on sidewalk. At the scene, officers suspected alcohol to be a factor as the man became agitated and boisterous when they arrived. Officers requested medics assess the man to rule out any life threatening issue. The man continued to be uncooperative through this process. The man then allegedly began spitting on/at the paramedics and police who were trying to assess vitals. The man also allegedly made threats to kill paramedics and police who were present.

Due to the assaultive behavior and apparent refusal to let medics check his vitals, the man, 48-year-old Henry Joseph Nabors, was arrested and charged with several offenses, including three aggravated misdemeanor charges of spitting on two paramedics and one police officer. He was also charged with interference with official acts, two counts of harassment and public intoxication.

Nabobs remains in jail at this time on $9,000 bond as a court date approaches this week.
