CHARLES CITY – Two young ladies who mixed it up during a domestic incident in Charles City are working their way through the court system, and one is guilty so far.
The incident took place Sunday morning, August 14 just after midnight, when police officers went to the 100 block of Smith Avenue for a possible fight. Upon arrival and investigation, Kyla Osterkamp, age 23 of Charles City, was arrested for domestic abuse causing injury, assault on a peace officer and public intoxication. Also during the scuffle, 22-year-old Tia Osterkamp was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Both women were taken to jail and soon released pending court dates. A no-contact order was imposed on Kyla Osterkamp.
Tia Osterkamp entered guilty pleas soon thereafter, to both charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. She was ordered to pay $295.50 in fines and court fees, which she already paid in full, court records show.
Kyla Osterkamp has not yet entered a plea of any kind to charges of domestic abuse causing injury and assault on a peace officer. She is due in court October 5 for arraignment on those charges. She already pleaded not guilty to the charge of public intoxication. She has demanded a jury trial on that charge, and no court date has been set.
