HAMPTON – A Hampton woman now says she is guilty of felony charges after law enforcement accused her of inflicting serious injuries upon a child.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department brought felony charges of willful injury causing serious injury and child endangerment causing serious injury against 27-year-old Jessica Mae Torres of Hampton. The charges come after an alleged incident on May 14, as the 5-year-old niece of Torres was discovered unconscious while under Torres’ care. The child was hospitalized locally then flown to a hospital in Des Moines.

After her arrest, Torres was held in the Hardin county jail and then posted $5,000 surety bond.

On June 20, Torres entered a not guilty plea to the charges. She waived her right to a speedy trial and now awaited a jury trial on August 23 and a pre-trial conference (possible plea deal) on August 4.

Court records show that at this pre-trial conference, Torres entered guilty pleas to both charges brought against her. No sentencing date appears to have been set.

Torres was caught stealing from Wal-Mart in Mason City back in 2014. Mason City police were dispatched to Wal-Mart, 4151 4th Street SW, on the afternoon of November 30, 2014. Loss prevention employees had Torres detained for shoplifting. Torres was arrested and pled guilty the next day to fifth-degree theft. She was ordered to pay $387.50 in fines and fees. Torres was also caught stealing in Marshall county in 2012 and pled guilty to fifth degree theft.

What do the shoplifting charges have to do with what she did to that poor defenseless child?

I don’t see anything about a plea deal. Hopefully she gets the book thrown at her and never see the light of day again.

It said possible plea agreement on August 4th….

So what I said got deleted anyways there should be no pleas for her. she should never be able to walk a few free day again.

There should be no pleas for her. Nana is still fighting to walk talk and do things that a 5 year old should be doing… she stole her innocent.

She’s crap

I need a minute with her……………

Your post sounds like vengeance that is the Lords place, people are not supposed to take vengeance, curious how would vengeance by a human solve anything, that is what the court system is for.

Lol, The Lord…….how could The Lord allow her to harm an innocent being? And then lie about it?
