MASON CITY – Guns that were stolen from an unmarked Mason City police car last month have been recovered, police say.

According to Patrol Sergeant Steven M. Klemas, the Mason City police department “received a call from two citizens that had possibly located the stolen department weapons. Officer met with the two citizens in approximately the 1400 block of North Elm Drive. Upon further investigation it was determined that they were the department weapons and all the property was recovered.”

Mason City police reported back on the morning of June 27 that two long guns and related police equipment were stolen from an unmarked police department vehicle over the weekend. The unmarked police vehicle was parked in the 300 block of South Tennessee Avenue. The weapons and equipment were taken from the back seat. An officer had placed the items in the back seat while dealing with a maintenance issue related to the trunk. One of the doors on the unmarked vehicle may not have been locked, police said.

The first weapon that was taken was a Colt M-16 A1 rifle. It had one magazine with it that contained 28 rounds of .223 ammunition. The second weapon was a Remington 12-guage shotgun. It had seventeen rounds of 00 Buck and twelve slugs with it. Both guns were in a black cloth double long gun case.

Oh so did the riffle fairy come and take the riffle from the back seat while he was at the back the of the car in the trunk?? I know he has at least a few court cases against him right now and he needs to be removed from the force in my opinion. The cops lie to us everyday, but then when us citizens stretch the truth even the slightest bit we get charged for it. Crooked crooked society we live in.

Bull Shit. You obviously are a Democrat who doesn’t believe in the law. Move out if you don’t like it. Try Russia or Iran.

As hitlery and the fbi would say – that cop was extremely careless but is still an azzet to our department.

I would guess parents found the guns and called the cops.

I think you may have it right Katie, this could have turned out very bad if these weapons turned in to the wrong hands. Why have we not heard about some kind of punishment for the officer involved? This is not a small mistake.

John Kasich knows.

so they just found the guns laying outside? im calling bullshit.
