Britt man guilty of sexual abuse

GARNER – A Britt man who first said he is innocent of a charge of felony sexual abuse has pleaded guilty.

The Hancock District Court arraigned Sergio Efrain Guerra, age 22 of Britt, on one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony, on March 22. Guerra entered a written plea of not guilty on the charge, which was brought by Britt police. The alleged crime took place in July of 2015.

However, Guerra and his public defender entered a guilty plea to one count of third-degree sexual abuse on May 31. He is now awaiting sentencing on July 27.
