MASON CITY – With the help of other volunteers and a grant, kids planted trees in Mason City today.
City of Mason City staff reported Friday that 5th grade students from Newman Schools planted 20 trees along South Garfield Place, 15th Street SW and South Pierce Avenue.
Evan Miller provided expertise and a “tree planting demonstration”. Street Supervisor Bob Berggren and his crew also assisted in this ‘Trees for Kids’ event.
A grant from the Iowa DNR helped fund the tree planting event.
