LEON, IOWA – An Iowa father is accused of injuring his infant son to the point the boy was unresponsive and placed on life support.
On April 4, 2016 at approximately 11:55 AM, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call that a three month old infant was having trouble breathing. Emergency crews were dispatched to 446 Washington Street, Grand River, Iowa, where they discovered the infant was non-responsive. Emergency life-saving efforts were started and the infant was transferred to the Decatur County Hospital by ambulance. The infant was then transferred to Blank Children’s Hospital by air ambulance where he remains on life support. Further information regarding the injuries sustained and the condition of the infant are not being released at this time.
On April 5, 2016, the infant’s father, Joshua Russell Guill, 25, was arrested and has been charged with Child Endangerment Causing Serious Injury (Class C felony). He is being held in the Decatur County Jail on $10,000 cash only bond. The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Leon Police Department are assisting the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
This is an ongoing investigation and nothing further will be released at this time.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
