CHARLES CITY, IOWA – A Charles City man was fishing Tuesday evening when for unexplained reasons, he ended up in the river.
Charles City police report that on March 22 at 7:13 PM, officers responded to a report of a person in the Cedar River. Emergency responders from the police and fire departments, they Floyd county sheriff’s office, Floyd county search and rescue, the department of natural resources and AMR ambulance worked together at the scene near the downtown dam.
An investigation found that 54-year-old Kevin Endelman was possibly fishing above the dam by Main Street and somehow ended up in the river. He was recovered from the river and taken by ambulance to the Floyd County Medical Center. Lifesaving measures were taken but Mr. Endelman passed away.
