MASON CITY – NIACC freshman right-hander Derek Lieurance was selected as the ICCAC Division II player of the week for the week of Feb. 15-21.
Lieurance, who is from Cascade, gained the win against Highland CC allowing no unearned runs on two hits with nine strikeouts and two walks in five innings of work on Feb. 20.
Last season, NIACC sophomore right-hander Quinn Ahern was the league’s pitcher of the week twice and freshman right-hander Tony Grabowske captured the award once.
No. 13 NIACC was 5-0 in its games last weekend against Highland CC and Cloud County CC. The Trojans return to action March 12 against Crowder College in Neosho, Mo.
