HAWKEYE, IOWA – An Iowa man armed with a claw hammer went after a woman before law enforcement caught up with him.
On February 1, 2016 at about 4:30 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of an assault that took place near 20271 V Avenue in Hawkeye, Iowa. Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. Allegedly, Christopher James Gruver, age 43 of Hawkeye, Iowa, drove to the residence armed with a Claw hammer and attacked a female. Gruver was disarmed by several by-standers then fled the scene.
Later that evening, Gruver was taken into custody and charged with felony going armed with intent, a class “D” felony; stalking, a class “D” felony; domestic assault, serious assault and displaying a weapon, (all aggravated misdemeanors), and driving while license suspended, a simple misdemeanor. It also was found that Gruver had multiple warrants through Fayette County on Theft in the 4th Degree and Driving While License Suspended.
Gruver was transported to Fayette County Jail, where he awaits initial appearance.
