NIACC men’s track and field team ranked 22nd

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The NIACC men’s track and field team is ranked 22nd in the second set of rankings by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association released Wednesday.

The NIACC men, who were 19th in the initial set of rankings, is 22nd this week with 28.04 points. Iowa Central is ranked first with 520.95 points and Iowa Western is ranked second with 223.39 points.

The NIACC women, who were 19th last week, fell out of this week’s rankings.
For the NIACC men, Imad Amenzou is ranked 14th in the 800 (1 minute, 56.38 seconds) and 32nd in the 600 (1:24.79). Also for the Trojans, the distance medley relay team is ranked seventh (10:40.12), Zach Freund is 18th in the 3,000 (9:00.16) and 32nd in the 1,000 (2:44.05), Jose Aguilera is 26th in the 1,000 (2:40.18) and 30th in the mile (4:33.19) and Jacob Day is 26th in the mile (4:31.51).

For the NIACC women, Sola Stephenson is 10th in the pentathlon (2,780 points), 24th in the 600 (1:45.18) and 25th in the 800 (2:31.62). The Lady Trojans’ 4×800-meter relay team is third (10:58.23).

Also for the Lady Trojans, Steinunn Atladottir is tied for 20th in the triple jump (10.54 meters) and 31st in the long jump (5.27 meters). Kendra Schmidt ranks 25th in the 1,000 (3:31.98), Jordan Lane is 29th in the 1,000 (3:36.33) and Maribel Zamago is 25th in the 600 (1:45.52).

The NIACC men’s and women’s teams return to action Saturday at the Grinnell College Invitational.
