NIACC women qualify for nationals in 4×800

niacc_trojans_logoDUBUQUE – The NIACC women’s 4×800-meter relay team qualified for the NJCAA national meet at the Sol Butler Classic Saturday.

The NIACC women placed third in a time of 10:58.23 in the season-opening meet. The Lady Trojans ran Maribel Zamago, Jordan Lane, Michaela Foster and Kendra Schmidt.

NIACC’s Steinunn Atladottir placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.27 meters (17-3 1/2) and Sola Stephenson was sixth with a jump of 4.84 meters (15-10 1/2).

Stephenson placed third in the 600 in 1:45.18.

Also for the NIACC women, Sarah Snavely was eighth in the weight throw (13.06 meters/42 feet, 10 inches) and ninth in the shot put (11.05 meters/36-3).

For the NIACC men, sophomore Imad Amenzou won the 600-meter dash in a time of 1:24.79. Sophomore John Enright was fourth in 1:27.80 and freshman Jose Aguilera was sixth in 1:29.73.

The NIACC men placed second in the 4×800 in a time of 8:18.23. The Trojans ran Enright, Keiskuuke Ohtani, Mark Maddox and Amenzou.

Sophomore Jacob Day was seventh in the mile in a time of 4:34.38. Finn Nightingdale ran 6.80 in the 55-meter dash and placed ninth, just missing qualifying for the finals.
