LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – A driver mowed down dozens of pedestrians Sunday night on the busy Las Vegas strip, killing at least one.
Las Vegas police confirmed the incident Sunday.
“Over 37 injured in crash on Las Vegas Blvd, one person is confirmed deceased, several still critical. Driver is in custody,” police said.
The Las Vegas Strip was blocked off after the accident, and police continued to investigate.
The Miss Universe pageant was being held nearby.
Police later Sunday said 26 victims were transported to area hospitals Sunday night. Las Vegas Boulevard was closed most of the night for continued investigation.
Deputy Chief Zimmerman said in a press conference that “This was not an act of terrorism. Initial investigation appears this was intentional.”
Charges are pending at this time.
