Mason City School Board to meet Monday

mason-city-schools-admin-bldg-spring-2012MASON CITY – The newly-elected school board will meet Monday evening at the school administration building at 5:30 PM.

Among the items on the agenda, the board secretary will administer the oath of office to newly elected board members Doug Campbell, Paul DeRoy, Jodi Draper, Lorrie Lala, Brent Seaton and Scott Warren. An election of a President of the board and a Vice-President board will be held.

Supervisor of Facilities/Safety Coordinator Todd Huff will provide the Board with the annual facilities inspection report.

Executive Director for Learning Supports and PK-4 Programs Michael Penca will provide an update on the Wellmark Foundation Matching Grant program the district, ISU Extension and Outreach, Cerro Gordo County Dept. of Public Health and Blue Zones Project-Mason City are collaborating on. Later, Superintendent Anita Micich will provide the Board with an update on the District involvement in the community Blue Zones Project.

Executive Director for Educator Quality and Leadership T. J. Jumper will present the student achievement goal recommendations for 2015-2016 for the district’s comprehensive plan for the Iowa Department of Education.

Other administrative reports will be made to the board, as well.

A policy – Abuse of Students by School District Employees Regulation – is being presented for a first reading. With the approval of the Level 1 Investigators (as presented in the Consent Agenda), this Board Policy Regulation requires revising.
