Mason City man convicted of felony domestic abuse

MASON CITY – A Mason City man is guilty of felony domestic abuse and will spend time in a local halfway house as punishment.

Mason City police responded to a call on the morning of April 24, 2015 on North Delaware Avenue for a domestic incident. After an investigation, 54-year-old Robi Eugene Meyer was arrested for felony domestic abuse assault involving strangulation and obstruction of emergency communication.

On August 12, Meyer pled guilty and was given a suspended 5-year prison sentence and a suspended fine, along with 5 years of probation. He must also submit a DNA sample. Meyer will reside in the Beje Clark halfway house for an indeterminate amount of time. He remains in the county jail until bed space is cleared at Beje Clark.

Involving strangulation – no prison time? What’s up w/that?

Wow-suspended sentence and time in a halfway house. That will really teach him a lesson. Free food, clothes and medical for choking someone.
