BREMER COUNTY – A woman who police say is from Clear Lake has been caught thrice for drunk driving in recent weeks.
Heather Kay Gronewold, age 41 of Clear Lake, was first stopped and arrested in March of this year by Clear Lake police. She was charged with first offense operating while intoxicated, to which she pled guilty on July 14. She was sent to jail for 2 days and ordered to pay $1,863.50 in fines and court fees. Records show she has yet to make a payment.
Gronewold’s next brush with the law came on July 23 in Bremer county. The sheriff’s office there reported that on that day, Gronewold was stopped and arrested for second offense operating while intoxicated and driving while license revoked. She is now waiting for her court arraignment set for September 4.
Gronewold has not been idle, however, and according to court records, was was arrested on August 9 in Hardin county. She was once again charged with second offense operating while intoxicated. She was released from jail on the condition, court records show, that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation. She now awaits an August 25 arraignment in this case.

Damn this chick LOVES to drink! Why is it that women get off easier than the men do though? That’s kinda messed up. She obviously loves her booze more than the freedom to drive. She needs to get her license revoked for a year so she can hopefully learn her lesson before she kills someone!
…I am missing something here! If she has been “stopped” and arrested” 3 times…how is the 3rd arrest labeled as a “2nd arrest?
Good question.
You can only count the ones she’s already been found guilty of. She’s still waiting to go to court on others. Also, she will most likely plea them down to 1st owi which carries smaller penalties. So if you only have convictions for first OWI, you will be arrested for 2nd OWI no matter how many times. (I think)
Maybe she will get some sobriety in prison. That’s where she’s headed unless she gets killed while driving drunk.
Heather sure gets around, only 96 counties to go.
She’s getting good at it…. with some practice, I bet she’ll turn pro!
