Richardson, Sam B15AMES, Iowa – Iowa State quarterback Sam Richardson has been named to the preseason watch list for the Manning Award, given annually to the nation’s top quarterback.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

Richardson, a senior from Winter Park, Fla., is one of 30 quarterbacks listed.

Richardson enters his third season as Iowa State’s starting signal-caller in 2015, compiling 4,607 passing yards and 1,010 rushing yards in his career.

His 2,669 passing yards ranked as the fourth-best single-season total in school history and his 18 touchdown passes was two shy from the school mark and third-best in school history.
