logo-iowa-state-patrolAMES – A former Mason City man fell asleep behind the wheel of his pickup truck, crashing the vehicle, and was taken to an Ames hospital.

Eli Miller, age 38, was southbound in his 2013 Ford F-150 pickup on July 9 at about 8:38 PM on Interstate 35 near the 133 mile marker when the Iowa State Patrol says he fell asleep behind the wheel and drove his vehicle into the median. Miller was injured in the ensuing crash and emergency responders from Hamilton county, Jewell, and Ellsworth rushed to the scene. Miller, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames with undisclosed injuries.

Miller is formerly of Mason City, where he worked for Neighbors Heating and Air Conditioning. He is now part-owner of Total Indoor Air Quality, based near Ames.
