HAMPTON – An Iowa man on a motorcycle was killed Friday afternoon in Franklin county when another driver crossed the center line in the road and struck him, head-on.
The Iowa State Patrol reported that just after noon on Friday, July 3, a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a car occurred on Highway 3 just a couple hundred yards east of Interstate 35.
The patrol said that 56-year-old Nicholas Paul Hursh of Parkersburg was driving his 2014 motorcycle westbound when a 1997 Monte Carlo driven by 24-year-old Jose Martin Salinas of Hampton, who was traveling eastbound, crossed the center line and struck Hursh head-on.
Hursh was killed in the accident. Salinas’ condition was not released, but he was not listed as injured in the report.
The accident remains under investigation.
