TAMA COUNTY – Five children were injured when an SUV rolled several times Saturday night on an Iowa highway.
The Iowa State Patrol reported Sunday that late Saturday night, July 4, at about 11:12 PM, a 2004 Dodge Durango with six occupants from Ottumwa, Iowa was northbound on Highway 63 in Tama county when the driver, Dalie Rodriguez-Jurez, over-corrected while steering the vehicle. The Durango entered the north ditch and rolled several times.
Rodriguez-Jurez was injured and taken to an area hospital by ambulance. Also injured were five children, ages 2, 3, 8, 13 and 14 years old. All of them were taken to Waterloo hospitals by various ambulances which responded to the accident scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
