MILLS COUNTY – An Iowa man riding a motorcycle was critically inured when he crashed into a deer he was unable to avoid.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 32-year-old Shawn Lee Richter of Malvern, Iowa, was traveling northbound on Highway L45 in Mills county on a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle when he encountered a deer in the roadway and was unable to avoid it. He struck the deer and was thrown from the bike. State Patrol says Richter suffered severe incapacitating injuries and is in critical condition after being transported by helicopter to Creighton Medical Center.
