SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – A person riding a bicycle was killed Tuesday after being struck by car in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a person riding a bicycle was traveling south on highway 71 near 34th Street in spirit Lake, Iowa at about 6:00 PM Tuesday, June 23, when a motorist, 23-year-old Dustin Abbas of Milford, Iowa, was also traveling south, driving a 2000 Buick Park Avenue. Abbas allegedly struck the person on the bicycle with his car, from behind, and the bicyclist was killed.
The name of the deceased person is being withheld pending notification of family. The accident is still under investigation.
