CEDAR RAPIDS – A man who police say robbed a Cedar Rapids bank this afternoon was caught minutes later as he fled in a vehicle.
Cedar Rapids police officers responded to a robbery of Community Savings Bank at 3414 Mount Vernon Road SE at 2:32 PM Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:37 PM, officers located a vehicle in the area of East Post Road and Lakeside Drive SE believed to be involved in the bank robbery. The suspect vehicle led officers on a vehicle chase, and officers apprehended the suspect in the area of the Cedar Rapids Police Department Shooting Range located on Old River Road SW at 2:48 PM.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Lee Feeney, age 42, of 811 F Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids. Feeney was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree, Theft 2nd Degree and numerous traffic violations, and transported to the Linn County Jail.
A weapon was not displayed during the robbery and no one was injured during the robbery, pursuit or arrest of the suspect.
Robbery 2nd degree is a Class C felony, Theft 2nd degree is a Class D felony.
