MESERVEY – A Meservey woman is behind bars for the third time this year after she failed to control her dog.
A Cerro Gordo deputy was sent to 110 1st Street in Meservey Tuesday night around 7:42 PM after a report of of dog attack. A deputy arrived and the reporting party said a dog belonging to 33-year-old Julie Rockwell attacked their dog. Sheriff Kevin Pals told NIT that there was no injury to either dog, but, Rockwell was arrested for unspecified animal violations. She was taken to the county jail, processed and later released.
Rockwell has been arrested at least twice previously this year in Cerro Gordo county.
Rockwell is awaiting a June 2 arraignment on charges of drunk driving, child endangerment, possession of marijuana and other traffic violations after a car accident on March 26. Law enforcement said Rockwell was westbound on 210th Street that day when the vehicle left the road. Emergency responders arrived soon thereafter, and she was taken to Mercy Hospital with unspecified injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, 5-year-old Darik Rockwell, was treated by paramedics at the scene and released with no injuries. A subsequent investigation led to the charges.
On March 28, Rockwell was charged with second offense domestic abuse assault and a few weeks later with violating the no-contact order in the case. She has entered a not guilty plea and awaits a non-jury trial on July 7 in that case.
