WATERLOO – Arrests have been made by Waterloo police of two juvenile suspects who entered a woman’s house, bound her, and beat her with a hammer before before stealing valuables, including a car.

According to Waterloo police, on April 24, at about 11:46 AM, officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 700 block of Dawson. It was learned that two suspects had entered the victim’s home. The suspects had their faces covered, tied the victim, struck her with objects including a hammer, and threatened to harm her if she called the police. The suspects stole several valuables from the victim, including the victim’s car. After the suspects left, the victim was able to free herself and contact the Waterloo Police Department. It appears that one of the suspects may be an acquaintance of a relative to the victim. The victim’s injuries did not require hospitalization. The victim’s car was found abandoned in the city several hours later.

On April 26, as a result of this investigation, two juveniles were taken into custody. Marcus Pendleton was arrested for Robbery 1st, Burglary 1st, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without the Owner’s Consent (OMVOC), while Dacarious Burkett was arrested for Robbery 1st, Burglary 1st, and Accessory after the Fact- OMVOC. They were both booked into the BHC Jail as adults.

Mug shots will not be released at this time as this is a continuing and ongoing investigation.
