HAMPTON – In 2014, the Franklin County Republican Central Committee honored retiring Congressman Tom Latham (a native son of Franklin County) with an evening at Ridge Stone Golf Club in Sheffield, celebrating his career and service to the State of Iowa as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. At that event, we were proud to announce the establishment of a $1,000 scholarship dubbed the “Legacy of Leadership” scholarship in honor of Congressman Latham.

Today, the Franklin County Republican Central Committee has released the scholarship application to school districts attended by Franklin County students, and is encouraging Franklin County graduating seniors to apply for the award. The “Legacy of Leadership” scholarship award will honor one student who has shown leadership through community volunteerism, principled character, and their ability to articulate the importance of civic or political involvement.

Franklin County students interested in applying for the “Legacy of Leadership” scholarship should visit their high school guidance counselor for an application, or contact Chairman Shawn Dietz at dietz4iowa@gmail.com. The application deadline is Thursday, April 30, 2015.
