MASON CITY – Law enforcement was called to Wal-Mart Thursday afternoon and arrived just in time to nab a shoplifter fleeing the store, something she did last year, as well.
Loss prevention employees called police Thursday, April 9 at about 1:41 PM to report a at least one shoplifter in the store. Mason City police and Cerro Gordo deputies responded, and as a deputy arrived, was able to apprehend a person leaving the store that was identified as the suspect. Arrested at the scene was 26-year-old Mallorie Elaine Wolcott of Mason City. She was charged with third degree theft, trespassing, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the county jail, processed and later released.
This is not the first time Wolcott has been nabbed stealing from Wal-Mart.
On February 11th, 2014 at about 10:10 PM, two males and two females selected merchandise from the shelves of Wal-Mart and left the store without paying. When confronted by store employees, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle. Police said that some of the merchandise was recovered and some was not. Total value of the merchandise stolen was around $573.00 by the group. Police located and charged Tabatha Jones and Mallorie Elaine Wolcott with 3rd Degree theft. The names of the two men were not disclosed by police.
Wolcott later pled guilty to fifth degree theft after originally being charged with third degree theft. Wolcott was ordered to pay $1,116.47 in fines and court costs, but has never made a payment.
