Arizona man jailed, taken away by feds on immigration case

MASON CITY – Law enforcement stopped a vehicle in rural Thornton and discovered a man they suspect may not be a U.S. citizen.

A Cerro Gordo deputy pulled over a speeding vehicle driven by 45-year-old Salvidor Lopez Lopez, of Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday after 9 PM on the southern edge of Thornton at Grouse Avenue and 120th Street.

Lopez was jailed on charged of speeding and no valid driver’s license. An ICE immigration detainer was placed on Lopez. Jailers told NIT Thursday that he pleaded guilty to both charges and “immigration picked him up today on an immigration hold, not sure where they transported him though”.
