MASON CITY – A local ethanol producer celebrated a milestone Wednesday by giving Governor Terry Branstad a t-shirt.
Golden Grain Energy’s ethanol plant in Mason City produced its billionth gallon of ethanol in February of this year. Its billionth gallon of Ethanol was produced on February 25 around 11pm, the company said.
To celebrate, Governor Branstad visited the plant on Wednesday, March 4. Golden Grain representatives gave the Governor a t-shirts that says “Keep calm and fuel on”.
The company says the shirts sold for $13.
