MASON CITY – A convicted weed dealer was arrested after an incident at the probation offices at Mohawk Square this week.
Police were tight-lipped about the incident that took place on the morning of February 3, 2015 at the Department of Corrections’ Office of Probation and Parole inside Mohawk Square in downtown Mason City. Tommie Dean Laster was there that morning, and he was wanted for violating his probation in connection to a felony marijuana dealing guilty plea last year. Police said there was no incident as he was arrested – anon further charges were filed – but information given to NIT said that there was an altercation when Laster was being arrested, and a number of officers across the street at MCPD headquarters went over to assist, as he has alerts for violent behavior.
Laster was taken to the county jail on the warrant and held on $5,000 bond. He faces a probation revocation hearing on February 25. He had a suspended 5-year prison term and fines associated with his plea deal.
