Emergency rescuers save dog that fell down a well

OELWEIN – A dog fell down a well Wednesday morning near Oelwein, Iowa and was rescued by emergency responders.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said today that they took a call of a dog that had fallen down a well located at 12628 50th Street north east of Oelwein. The sheriff’s office requested assistance from the Oelwein Fire Department to assist in the rescue.

Upon arrival, the Oelwein Fire Department lowered a firemen down into the well and was able to get the dog into a portable kennel and lift the dog to safety. The Owners of the property did not know who the dog belonged to, so it was taken to the Oelwein Veterinarian clinic to be housed. It did not appear to be seriously injured in the incident.
