MASON CITY – A woman has accepted a plea deal in case where she was accused of vandalizing a car in the Cerro Gordo county courthouse parking lot.
Melissa Jean Hand, age 25 of Mason City, was charged with third degree criminal mischief after an incident last June where a vehicle was vandalized while parked at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse, causing nearly $1,000 in damage.
After skipping at least one court date, Hand finally plead guilty to a lesser charge of fifth degree criminal mischief. She was sent to jail for four days and ordered to pay $1217.56 in court costs and restitution to the victim.
