Belmond woman facing felony drug charge jailed for pre-trial violation

MASON CITY – A Belmond woman awaiting trial in Cerro Gordo county for drug charges and a drunk driving charge is accused of violating her pre-trial release and is in jail.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Tabitha Lynne Hembree, age 23, last week after the Iowa Department of Corrections accused her of violating the terms of her pre-trial release from jail in connection to a September 28 arrest. Early that morning, Hembree was stopped by a Mason City police officer arrested for drunk driving near 4th Street SW and Pierce Avenue. She was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail in Mason City and as she was being booked at about 4:00 AM, a deputy discovered marijuana. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and attempting to possess and convey contraband in a correctional facility, a felony.

Hembree is being held on $7,000 cash-only bad at this time as she awaits a plea hearing on January 21, 2015.
