RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A North Iowa man walked away from an auto accident late Monday night, but found his way to a jail cell.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover near the 182 mile marker on Highway 18 at about 10:44 PM. Upon arrival, deputies found that Kalob Dean Carpenter, age 23 of Alexander, had rolled his 2001 Chrysler LHS into the ditch on the north side of the roadway.
Mason City fire medics and the Clear Lake Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene, and Carpenter was not injured.
Deputies determined after an investigation that Carpenter was intoxicated and placed him under arrest for operating while intoxicated, failure to maintain control and no insurance. He was transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and released after posting bond.
