Mason City domestic abuser accused of violating no-contact order 31 times

MASON CITY – A man who pled guilty to domestic abuse stands accused of violating a no-contact order in that case 31 times.

Michael Wayne Holton, age 27, pled guilty on September 2 to second offense domestic assault. He had been charged with felony third offense domestic assault after an incident on the afternoon of July 29, at about 4:23 PM, when Mason City police responded to a domestic situation at 150 South Grover Avenue. Holton was arrested and charged that day. In the plea deal, Holton got a week in jail and was ordered to pay $419.00 in court costs; a $625 fine was suspended.

Holton was accused for the 31st time last week for violating the no-contact order that was imposed in the domestic abuse case. As part of the plea deal, for the first no-contact order violation, Holton was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Holton is now appealing his sentence, and his court-appointed attorney filed notice of the appeal on September 12. Three days later, the court appointed an attorney and called for preparation of transcripts, all at state expense.

Holton is now serving his jail sentence and will be incarcerated until November 12.

Holton, already this year, served several days in jail for failing to pay child support. He began serving a 30-day sentence in jail on July 24. However, on July 28, the honorable Judge Gregg Rosenbladt suspended the rest of Holton’s sentence and let him out of jail. He committed his domestic assault the next day, on the afternoon of July 29.

Too bad north Iowa today doesn’t have the facts. Neither did the globe gazette when they did an article on him shortly after his arrest. Maybe I should make an online “news” source since it doesn’t have to be accurate information and I could share what I want with the community. Smh!

@Anonymous-You hae a good start with your inaccuate comments.

Another one of Mason City’s finest, immigrant scofflaws

“July 28, the honorable Judge Gregg Rosenbladt suspended the rest of Holton’s sentence and let him out of jail. He committed his domestic assault the next day, on the afternoon of July 29.”

“Holton is now serving his jail sentence and will be incarcerated until November 12.”

Who wants to place their bets on a repeat offense occurring November 13?

Another damn import that we should ship back to Chicago or Detroit.
