MASON CITY – Polarizing pol Steve King is coming back to Mason City this week, and bringing his fiery rhetoric with him.
According to an email from King campaign field director John M. Johnson, Congressman King will be in Mason City Wednesday, August 13 for a town hall meeting. Johnson, however, neglected to write the time and location of the town hall meeting in his email, and King’s website and social media pages make no reference at all to the event.
A Republican insider told NIT that King’s Mason City town hall meeting will be at the Holiday Inn Express, 3041 4th Street SW at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 13. The event is presumably open to the public.
King has become a lightning rod with his divisive and poignant remarks on immigration. He said, for example, that people crossing the southern U.S. border have calves the size of cantaloupes from lugging drugs through the desert. His rhetoric has galvanized his supporters and detractors.
King’s opponent in the November election is Democrat Jim Mowrer.
