MASON CITY – An auto accident Sunday evening in Mason City injured no one but sent a woman’s SUV sailing into a nearby front yard and striking a house.

Mason City police said that Sunday night at about 10:00 PM, a collision was reported in the intersection of Hwy 122 Eeast and Kentucky Avenue. Emily Schrank, age 32 of Davenport, was driving westbound through the intersection. The second vehicle, driven northbound by 72-year-old Jean Rood of Mason City, allegedly failed to obey the red traffic signal and collided with Schrank’s vehicle in the intersection. After the collision, Schrank’s vehicle left the road (northwest) and collided with a residence located on the corner at 324 South Kentucky.

Rood was cited for failure to yield to a traffic control device.  Police did not indicate that there were any injuries.
