Mason City man pleads guilty to drug possession

MASON CITY – A man charged with drug possession has pleaded guilty and is now in jail.

Jeffery Alan Hisel, Jr., age 24, pled guilty on July 2 to possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to two days in jail and assessed $1,891.25 in fines and court costs.

Hisel had a court dates on May 19 and May 27 to answer for the drug possession charge, but failed to show up. Police finally went to his apartment at the Kentucky Ridge Apartment complex and took him into custody at one point.

Hisel pled guilty to drunk driving last year, and in exchange, the judge threw out a drug possession charge. He was assessed $1917.50 in fines and fees, but had paid just $294.00 on that balance.
