GARNER – A Garner woman was brought to justice for a number of crimes in recent weeks.
Amanda Christine Newby, age 43 of Garner, was convicted on March 25 of eluding law enforcement – a serious misdemeanor – stemming from a traffic stop by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office on August 1, 2013. Newby was sentenced to serve 12 days in jail and pay $425.25, plus court costs and attorney fees.
In addition, Newby was convicted of driving while revoked – a serious misdemeanor – stemming from a traffic stop by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office on June 7, 2013. Newby was sentenced to serve 2 days in jail and pay $1,350.00, plus court costs and attorney fees.
Newby pled guilty in Hancock district court on March 26, 2013 to possession of a controlled substance and first degree drunk driving and has failed to make a payment on the $2,681.53 she was assessed in fines and fees by a judge.
