Wanted Alden woman nabbed by cops in Mason City

MASON CITY – A wanted woman from Hardin county was caught early Saturday in Mason City.

Krista Jolene Huston, age 19 of Alden, Iowa, had been given a deferred judgement in 2012 on a third degree theft charge brought by Mason City police. Records show that Huston and another woman, 20-year-old Allison Raymond, conducted business at Animal Answers Pet Shop in Mason City on August 22, 2012, and were immediately arrested and charged by Mason City police.

Both women were placed on probation for a year. Huston was supposed to pay $1,128.24 in court costs and restitution, but so far has managed to pay only $118.18.

Cerro Gordo county prosecutors filed a probation violation report in November of 2013, and Huston was finally due in court on February 21 of this year, but she failed to appear and a warrant for her arrest was issued.

Police finally caught Huston in Mason City Sunday and took her into custody. She is now in the Cerro Gordo county jail on $1,300 cash-only bond.

Raymond – who is also far behind in paying her restitution – is also facing a probation violation and is due in court April 16.
