Drugs, booze discovered by police during MC traffic stop

MASON CITY – Police stopped a car on the city’s North End early Thursday in which the driver had open container of alcohol and passenger had illegal drugs.

Mason City police said that they conducted a traffic stop at about 2 AM Thursday at the intersection of 15th Street NE and Penn Avenue. Six officers responded to the scene.

The driver of the car, 30-year-old Lucas Lloyd Heilskov of Mason City, was arrested for open container of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He has at least one previous conviction of operating while intoxicated.  He posted $300.00 cash bond and was released, pending an April 4 court date.

The passenger, 29-year-old Robby Alan Rasmussen of Grafton, Iowa was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was released from jail on his own recognizance as he awaits a September 19 non-jury trial.
