DES MOINES – An anti-abortion rally was held in Des Moines Monday.
The all-day event was held at St. Anthony’s and the state capitol. Iowa Right-to-Life, Iowans For L.I.F.E., Mercy Medical Center, Iowa Catholic Conference, Teen Pact, Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus, Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition, Saint Jude Hospice, and The FAMiLY LEADER all participated.
The day began in Des Moines with a pro-life education seminar at the church – including a prayer – followed by keynote speaker Wesley Smith of the Discovery Institute.
After a lunch, attendees were encouraged to go to the Capitol. Lobbying ocurred from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on the 2nd floor of the Iowa Capitol. Attendees had the opportunity to share their views on life, and pray with legislators. Later in the afternoon, a rally on the 1st floor Rotunda with Wesley Smith was held.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad attended, thanking attendees “for being part of the pro-life cause. Thank you for the job that you’re doing in educating and getting more people involved in understanding how significant and how important human life is.”
A bill banning telemed abortions was approved earlier this month in a House Committee at the Iowa legislature and is set for debate in the full House.

Great religious organizations and faithful Christians defending life in the womb. Thanks to all who took time to give the unborn a voice.
