WATERLOO – On Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at approximately 10:56 AM, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were dispatched to the intersection Highway 21 and Highway 20 on report of an accident.
Officers found that a red Oldsmobile was heading south on Highway 21 and turned eastbound into the path of a semi that was traveling northbound. The driver of the Oldsmobile was taken to Covenant Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver who died in the accident has been identified as Alice K. Hovenga, age 84, of Evansdale, IA. The semi driver was identified as Michael E. Pecenka, age 60, of Boone, IA.
