UNI drops road contest to Illinois State, 76-65

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Redbirds rallied from a halftime deficit for a 76-65 win over the visiting University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball team on Wednesday at Redbird Arena.

The Panthers (11-12 overall, 5-6 MVC) held a 34-31 halftime advantage before the Redbirds stormed back in the second half for the win. Illinois State (13-10 overall, 6-5 MVC) used a 17-2 run from the 16:38 mark of the second half to the 12:06 mark to turn a UNI lead of 39-33 into a Redbird advantage at 50-41.

UNI’s Matt Bohannon led all scorers with 19 points as he drained five 3-pointers on the night. Seth Tuttle added his second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Illinois State was led by Bobby Hunter’s 17 points. The Redbird bench enjoyed a 26-6 scoring advantage in the contest.

UNI will return home to play host to undefeated and No. 4-ranked Wichita State on Saturday in a sold-out McLeod Center. Tip is set for 8 p.m. with an ESPN2 telecast.
