MASON CITY – Newman Catholic seniors Carlie Eckenrod and Carter Niedermayer both signed national letter of intents Tuesday to play golf at NIACC next season.
NIACC coach Chris Frenz said he’s excited to get two players from a traditionally-strong high school golf program.
“It’s always good to get the local kids,” Frenz said. “They come from a quality school and a quality program. They are both great students.”
Eckenrod’s sister, Alexandria, played at NIACC last spring.
“I’m really looking forward to having her on the team,” Frenz said of Carlie, “because she has a great attitude toward school and golf, as well.
“She’s going to be a hard worker for me. I think she will have a great experience here at NIACC.”
Frenz said Niedermayer keeps improving.
“He’ll have a good senior season, as well,” the coach said. “He will be a definite contributor to our team.”
