Wrong-way freeway driver dead after head-on crash in southwest Iowa

logo-iowa-state-patrolPOTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, IOWA – A wrong-way driver on a major freeway in western Iowa lead to one death and three injuries Friday night near Council Bluffs.

According to a report, at about 10:32 PM on January 17th, 33-year-old David D. miller of Benton, Arkansas was driving a 2008 Kia Spectra north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 29 in Pottawattmie county just north of Council Bluffs. The vehicle collided head-on with a 2005 Nissan Maxima driven by Fredy Zanabria, unknown age and residence.

The Arkansas man was pronounced dead at the scene. Zanabria was trapped in his vehicle and sustained “extremely critical injuries.” He, along with two passengers, were taken to an Omaha Hospital for treatment.
