FAIRFAX, Virginia – The University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball team lost their afternoon match against George Mason, 76-70.
UNI was behind 19-11 nearly halfway into the first half. Sophomore guard Matt Bohannon would go on a 7-0 run converting two free throws, making a breakaway layup and knocking down a three-pointer. The Panthers would have the game tied at 19 with just under seven minutes left in the half and would go into halftime trailing the Patriots 30-29.
After the intermission the Panthers were behind 64-63 with 2:52 remaining. The half was largely back-and-forth however George Mason would go on a 12-7 run to seal the win.
Matt Bohannon led the Panthers with 19 points. Seth Tuttle provided the Panthers with 17 and added 7 rebounds before fouling out with just under 3 minutes left. Chip Rank scored 14 points off the bench and Deon Mitchell chipped in 12 points.
