Mason City music program to be featured on Iowa Public Television

MASON CITY – The Mason City Community School District is pleased to announce that Iowa Public Television will broadcast a documentary about the Mason City Community School District music program titled “Invisible Threads” on Sunday afternoon, December 1 at 3:30 pm. The film will also be rebroadcast on the IPTV World Channel Sunday evening, December 1 at 7:00 pm; and again on Saturday evening, December 14 at 9:00 pm. The project was produced/financed by David Beck and directed by Gary Ewing. IPTV Program and Operations Manager Rebecca Ketcherside called the movie, “Very touching.”

The documentary follows the year in the life of Mason City High School students from the summer musical and All-State camp to the Concert Choir’s performance at Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2013. The high school choirs, band and orchestra are highlighted along with students at Jefferson and Hoover Elementary. Numerous Mason City Community School District staff are interviewed including Deb Hild, Anita Micich, Sarah Bouska, Joel Everist, and former staff members Dennis Root and Linda Jensen. Narration provided by Mason City Community School District vocal music staff member Matthew Jensen.
