MASON CITY – A Mason City man was arrested after a house fire was responded to early Wednesday morning.
According to police, at 12:42 AM today, the Mason City Police Department and Mason City Fire Department responded to a house fire at 112 Brook Terrace. The residence, owned by Terry and Linda Turnure, was vacant and an investigation into the fire was conducted.
Dan Pruisman, owner of Pruisman Wood Floors and neighbor of the burning house, called the fire in.
“I smelled smoke. My son came upstairs as I was getting out of bed and said ‘It’s the neighbors house.’ I called 911 and he started dragging, moving the lawn furniture back out of the way. It started in the back and that’s where the most damage is done.” said Pruisman. “We didn’t have any damage to our house. When the flames started shooting out the windows that’s when they were concerned about our house and the neighbors house. They did a good job keeping our house hosed down.”
“When the firefighters got here, they couldn’t go in the house because the fire was in the basement . Flames were coming from the basement window by the air conditioner,” explained Pruisman.
“There was no electricity, no water, no gas. The house has been empty for months, it’s in foreclosure,” informed Pruisman.
After an investigation, officers arrested Roger Kenneth Kuck, age 57, of 124 Brook Terrace of Mason City.
Kuck was charged with 2nd Degree Arson, a class “C” felony, 3rd degree Burglary, a class “D” felony, and criminal trespass, a simple misdemeanor.
The Mason City Police Department was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department.
A class “C” felony is punishable up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
A class “D” felony is punishable up io 5 years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

They were working with a realtor to get it sold and rented it to help keep utilities on and to cover costs. It got condemned when these two disgusting women moved in, and then kuck broke out every window in the house. They lived in filth and fleas, and shouldnt even have custody of their children. But still that wasnt enough for him. He burned the house down! And everyone in my family works and does not get assistance,although I am unsure why that makes someone a bad person. No one is a deadbeat. I suggest u save your hot air for when he goes to trial. Even if you were annoyed by your neighbors does that make it ok to commit arson?

It is shocking that an individual this disturbed can disrupt an entire neighborhood for years without being either treated or punished, whatever the case may be. My suspicion is that he has serious mental health issues and the mental health system has lots of built in “protections” that actually hurt the person, and others around them in the long run. Just my humble opinion.
Just thanks GOD no one was in the house. I drove by today what a devastation to a beautiful house and to bad for the rest of the people that lived by. Again sorry for the post before I feel bad about what I had said.

I don’t know why he was my in laws moved in that house in1982 and he moved in way later. He is nuts but everyone thought he was so great cause he worked on the lagoon. But at night he was crazy as —- he burned my kids swing like 4 years ago. Stole my kids bikes and I would find them in the water. He took the nuts off one of my cars so when I drove away it fell off. Shot one of my cars with be es. The house that was burnt was a rental for my in laws and the renters had to move out cause he broke all the windows out. I could go on for hours of what this guy has done to not just my in laws but our whole family.

I’m the owners son in-law and this guy has been slashing tires and breaking windows on these people’s cars for years the police have known who has been doing it and there was never “enough evidence” to convict him now there is. All the years and sleepless nights are over. No more wondering if my kids are safe. Now every one knows what a creep kuck is. If there is anyone that deserves to be behind bars it’s roger kuck. It was only a matter of time before him started killing people.
